Code of Conduct
The goal of this code of conduct is to ensure that everyone at the table can enjoy the game in a respectful, welcoming environment.
1. Core Principle
The primary goal of the game is for everyone at the table to have fun together.
Respect and Inclusivity
Treat everyone at the table with respect and kindness. Be inclusive toward others regardless of heritage, education, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental health, physical or cognitive ability, or socio-economic background. Harassment or abuse based on these factors will not be tolerated.
Welcome new players and those you have not played with before. Our group often brings together people who may not know each other, so extend the same courtesy and friendliness you would offer friends at the table.
Listen when others are speaking and allow everyone the opportunity to participate.
Do not put down or criticize another player for their in-game decisions. Their character and choices belong to them.
Personality conflicts or real-world disagreements should be handled respectfully and calmly. Personal attacks or angry outbursts are not acceptable.
Table Behavior
Pay attention to the game, even when your character is not directly involved. Asking for recaps because you were distracted or browsing social media is disrespectful to the group.
Keep side conversations to a minimum. They can distract others and are better saved for breaks.
Mobile devices should be used sparingly. If you are not using your phone for your character sheet or game materials, consider putting it away during play.
Be respectful of the play space. You are a guest in someone's home and should treat their property accordingly.
There is no smoking or vaping allowed anywhere on the premesis.
Gameplay Etiquette
Roleplaying your character does not excuse disruptive behavior or treating other players poorly.
Avoid metagaming whenever possible. Make decisions based on what your character would reasonably know, even if it is not the optimal mechanical choice.
Consider the party when making decisions that affect the whole group.
Player versus player (PvP) conflict is not allowed unless specifically approved for the event.
Be willing to learn. Do your best to understand how your character works. New players are not expected to know everything, but should make an effort to learn the basics of their character's abilities.
Scheduling and Participation
Respect scheduled game times and other players' commitments.
Occasional absences happen, but consistent participation is important for the campaign. Repeated absences may result in removal from the group.
Rules and Disagreements
Disagreements about rules should remain respectful.
The DM's ruling stands during the session. Rules questions can be discussed after the game.
Sensitive Topics
Avoid discussions of politics, religion, or other divisive real-world topics, particularly if they make others uncomfortable.
Some swearing is inevitable in the middle of dungeon-crawling adventures, but repeated profanity can become distracting or uncomfortable for others. Please keep it reasonable.
Mature Content
This is an adult gaming table and the campaign may include mature themes that commonly appear in dark fantasy settings.
These may include topics such as:
- Graphic violence
- Sexual content
- Torture
- Abuse
- Phobias (spiders, confinement, etc.)
- Personal trauma triggers
These elements are not intended to be excessive or gratuitous, but they may appear as part of the world, its inhabitants, and the stories that unfold during the campaign.
Players should understand that the group will not structure the campaign around avoiding these themes entirely. If these topics are likely to make you uncomfortable, this particular game may not be a good fit.
At the same time, the goal is to maintain a respectful and enjoyable table. Scenes should not linger unnecessarily on disturbing details, and the focus of the game remains on exploration, teamwork, and adventure.
Conflict Resolution and Removal
Most problems at the table can be resolved through simple communication. If a concern arises about a player's behavior, the DM will usually begin by speaking with the player privately to clarify expectations and address the issue.
If the behavior continues after that discussion, the player may receive a clear warning that the behavior needs to change in order to remain part of the group.
If the issue still persists, the DM may ask the player to leave the session or the group. This decision is made to protect the overall health of the table and ensure that the game remains enjoyable for the rest of the group.
In serious situations involving harassment, hostility, or disruptive conduct, the DM may skip these steps and remove a participant immediately if necessary.
Enforcement
The venue host reserves the right to ask any participant to leave a session if circumstances require it.
